ABOUT THE DISTRICT
The Rural Huntington Regional Water & Sewer District was locally formed and established by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management in 2000. Construction of the sewer works began a few years later and serves properties in the Greenwood, Bel Air, Zahm Lake, Zahm Acres, Lakeside, and Skyline additions. The District is an independent corporate entity of the State of Indiana, and is governed by a board of trustees with oversight by the Huntington County Commissioners. Accounting and financial activities are audited regularly by the State Board of Accounts. The board is entrusted with the responsibility for wastewater collection and pipeline transportation to a municipal facility for treatment services to provide a clean and safe environment. The board of trustees is committed to operate the District in a manner that is efficient and as cost effective as possible. The District has no office building, and maintenance and financial accounting are provided by contract.
